Youths Perform Baptism For The Dead
According to the Church News, a publication of the Mormon Church, more than
120 youth in the West Palm Beach, Florida, Stake traveled to the Atlanta
Temple this past June to perform baptisms for the dead (July 16, 1988, p. 7).
The article quoted Thomas W. Honeycutt, the stake high counselor, as stating
that this group was “one of the largest from a stake to perform baptisms for
the dead at the temple,” (Ibid).
This ritual is one of the most important in the Mormon Church for it affirms
their belief that even after death, one receives a second opportunity to
accept Mormonism which in their mind equals salvation.
However, the Bible disagrees! In Hebrews 9:27, it is stated, “it is appointed
unto men once to die, but after this the judgement.”
