John 14:1-6

BE AT PEACE
(A funeral message)

INTRODUCTION – Vs. 1 – “Let not your heart be troubled…”

A PREPARED PLACE – Vs. 2 – “I go to prepare a place for you…”
Jesus is preparing a place for us in Heaven.
But, in a real sense He already prepared a place for us by dying for our sins on the cross. Without the cross there would be no forgiveness. Without forgiveness there would be no place in Heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 5:6-9

A PROMISED RETURN – Vss 3-4 – “I will come again…”
Jesus will return for the resurrection of all believers. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
But when a believer dies, his spirit enters into Heaven. Therefore, in a sense, Jesus has already come for that individual. Philippians 1:21, 2 Corinthians 5:8

A PERSONAL WAY – John 14:5-6 – “I am the way…”
Jesus is personally the way to Heaven.
Each person must personally trust Christ as his Savior. John 3:36

Note – This outline is offered in loving memory of my mentor, Rev. George Headley Jr. who went home to be with the Lord a few years ago. I adapted his notes to form this outline. Pastor Headley was a tremendous help and encouragement to me down through the years.
