Amzi Clarence Dixon
1854-1925
American pastor and author. Born June 6, 1854, A.C. Dixon was
reared in North Carolina, attended Wake Forest College (class
of 1875) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and
was ordained in 1876. He held three successive pastorates in
North Carolina, then pastorates in Baltimore, Brooklyn, and
Boston. He pastored Moody Memorial Church from 1906 to 1911,
when he accepted a call to fill Spurgeon's pulpit in the Met-
ropolitan Tabernacle in London. In 1922 he returned to
Baltimore, where he ministered until his summons home June
14, 1925.
In addition to pastoring, Dixon wrote a number of en-
couraging and inspirational books on the life of faith, in-
cluding The Bright Side of Life, The Bright Side of Death,
The Young Convert's Problems, and The Glories of the Cross.
